Online IPS Supported Employment Training Course

Who should take this course?
• This web-based course is intended for employment specialists and their supervisors.
How does learning take place?
• This is an online learning course with significant personalized learning opportunities.
• Each learning module consists of 30-40 minutes at the computer watching videos, reading, and answering questions.
• Following the computer work, participants are asked to spend time practicing new skills during their workweek, and then write about their experiences on a discussion board.
• For example, after learning about new techniques for building relationships with employers, students are asked to practice those techniques in the field and then write about their experiences on the discussion board.
• Unlike many other online courses, this training course includes contact with course facilitators who answer student questions and comment on all discussion board postings. The course also begins with a conference call with all course participants and facilitators.

How much does it cost?
• The cost of the course is $200 per person.
• A group rate of $1,000 is available for up to ten people from a single agency.
• If an IPS supervisor takes the course with one or more employment specialists at his/her agency, then all people taking the course from that agency will receive a 20% discount.
• Scholarships are available for sites in the Johnson & Johnson - Dartmouth Community Mental Health Program.
Is there a course certificate?
• Participants who complete the course, all of the homework assignments, and a course evaluation, will be issued a certificate of course completion
What’s the course schedule?
• The course will open on January 24, and close on April 22, 2011. Participants must complete all of the units within this timeframe. The January course is full; however, the next course will begin May 16, 2011 and close on August 13, 2011. What are the computer system requirements?
• System Requirements: Web browser (e.g., Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer) with JavaScript enabled and Adobe Flash (at least version 9.115), sound card, and speakers.
• All participants need an email account to receive updates and feedback about the course (a free account can be obtained online, for example at Google's Gmail [http://gmail.com]).
How do I register for the course?
• The January, 2011 course is full. Our next course is scheduled for May, 2011. Information will be available on this webpage later this winter.To register for the May 2011 course, please complete the registration form and email the form to sarah.j.swanson@dartmouth.edu. Your registration will not be complete until payment is made.
